REVIEWS ON THE HOTEL

I went in July 2003 to this hotel together with my husband and two kids.

We were impressed with the beautiful, huge swimming pool and the beach. Food was excellent, our room spacious and clean. Everything looked perfect. After 2 days we started comparing everything with Cuba. The reason for this was poor service for this kind of hotel. No smiles at all.
At the beginning I was giving tips to the stuff but after while I stopped for 2 reasons: tips that were given were accepted without smiles and sometime without thank you; and no body even tried to deserve the tip.
Kids club was far away from the beach (20 min walk), and they were checking kids passports for the age.
They only served local drinks, hiding the international ones under the counter, and only if you specifically ask for certain international drink they would take it out. All cocktails were loaded with liquid sugar; if you order cappuccino you will get a hot chocolate, and if you really want cappuccino you have to order coffee with milk.

English (or any other language except Spanish) knowledge is very poor and once when my husband asked for J&B whisky the waiter brought gin and beer mixed in the same glass.
We did not like the rule that in the restaurant at the beach we could not eat in the bathing suits, and the main restaurant was on 15 min walk from our room.

Entertainment was another story. It looked like they went out on the street and picked up a dozen people without any criteria. No body new how to dance or sing. On the top of that they were talking a lot about sex (without any good taste), even though there were a lot of kids.
The bus that took us back to the airport was so old (and could only be seen in the old movies) that a couple of people, including my both kids, were throwing up.

This is a very good example that it is not enough to invest a lot of money to build a beautiful hotel. People are very important too.

In November of 2003 there was eighteen of us in the group traveling to this paradise.

From the airport it took us approximately an hour to arrive to the hotel by an air-conditioned bus. The ride was a pleasant one a little bit bumpy at times but the scenery was interesting and you do not notice the small bumps.
The check in went smoothly for most of the new arrivals however some of us were not given the room keys for additional two hours because the rooms were not ready.

There was plenty to see, to explore to drink and eat so you do not mind waiting. We all agreed that the dining room was beautiful, the food was tasty however the service was slow.
Waiting for a cup of coffee or beer for 20 minutes is a little bit to much. Do these people ever smile?

The rooms are spacious, clean, air conditioned, equipped with TV, Telephone, mini bar and a safe. The scenery around the complex is gorgeous. Boardwalks are not my favorite things but the one at this hotel somehow stuck in my mine. It starts by the main restaurant and it ends 1/2 km latter by the swimming pools. From the board walk you can watch all the small fish within the long channel or take pictures of the flamingoes in there pink plumage gently exploring the pool bottom.
There are palm trees flowers and more palm trees everywhere.
There are a number of swimming pools interconnected with swim up bars, more restaurants, more beer, more people more good looking girls everywhere.

O yes, the beach. It is one of the nicest beaches around that we have seen. White powder sand, large waves buffeting the coral reef in the distance but gently rolling waves at the shore, with little kids building sand castles at the waters age and the big kids watching the topless girls when ever the wife is not around.

The nightly entertainment was not what we have expected and used to at these four star hotels.

If the question is are you going to visit The Sirenis Cocotal again? The answer is no.
We will go to Cuba.
